Working with natural quartz crystals Vogel found that they did not sufficiently cohere the field that comes from the mind and body of a person. He felt that by cutting and faceting natural quartz he could increase the after amplification and storage capacity of the crystal.

The large end of the vogel wand is the female receptive end. It draws in prana, which spirals down the length of the crystal, being amplified every time it hits a facet. When it reaches the small end this highly amplified prana is focused through the male end (which is cut at a larger interior angle than the female end) producing a coherent laser like energy. The number of facets vary from 4 to 33. The more facets the more amplification.

This special cut amplifies and moves energy very specifically. Energy moves from the male side (aligned triangle) to the female side (inverted triangle) and is amplified many times. Prana (life force energy) is drawn into the female side of the Star of David, is amplified, then radiates out the male side.
